Human chain demanding cancellation of secret lease of railway land in Jamalpur

Roknuzzaman Sabuj Jamalpur: Harijan women and businessmen living in Nandina railway station area in Jamalpur organized a human chain and gathered to cancel the secret lease of railway land.

The human chain was held at Nandina Railgate on Saturday (February 3) at noon. The businessmen in the human chain demanded cancellation of the secret lease of railway land.
Hundreds of men and women participated in the human chain.
Meanwhile, some women of the Harijan community living on the railway land took part in the human chain.
They are seen breaking down in tears for fear of losing their homes. Businessman Jahangir Alam said, Director General of Railways Kamrul Hasan is a child of Nandina area in Jamalpur. We have been doing business and running a family on this land for a long time, we used to take the lease. But we are in danger because of leasing this land secretly. We request the Director General to cancel this lease.
Businessman Yasin Ali Akand said, "None of us living in the vicinity, including the station master, know about this lease. We, who have been running business on the railway land for twenty-five years, are suddenly in danger." He requested to cancel this lease and call for tender again.
Businessman Alam Sarkar said, cancel this lease quickly and give us a chance to take the lease with a new tender notice. Bindia, a Harijan woman, said,
Where do we go now? They will demolish our house and occupy the land. We want to stay here on lease. He burst into tears. When asked about these issues, Assistant Station Master of Nandina Railway Station Al Zahid Noman said, "We don't know when the tender was advertised." Railway land department can tell that. When called SM Ferdous Alam, divisional land property officer of Bangladesh Railway, his phone was found to be switched off. It is known that the lease tender of 156 plots of railway land in Nandina railway station area was given last December. The real residents and traders could not participate in the lease process without being informed about the tender. Shahnewaz Raju, who got the lease of eight plots, said that twenty-five applicants got 156 plots but do not know who they are.
I got only eight plots.
