Mahmudullah is considering leaving the Test

Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah told his Bangladesh teammates that he was not ready to prolong his Test career now.

Mahmudullah made the announcement during the third day of the Test against Zimbabwe in Harare.

Mahmudullah was returned to the Bangladesh Test squad for a match in Zimbabwe after 17 months.

Mahmudullah made a great comeback with an unbeaten 150 and made two important partnerships with Liton Kumar Das and Taskin Ahmed.

To bring Bangladesh back into the match, Mahmudullah put on 138 for the seventh wicket with Liton (95) and 191 for the ninth wicket with Taskin (75) for a challenging total on the board.

Although Mahmudullah has not yet officially announced his retirement, members of Imago Sports Management, who have been managing him for a long time, made up his mind.

"Am I fit to play Tests? I have asked myself several times after coming down against Pakistan in such an ugly way. I wanted to give the answer and I wanted to give the answer. The answer I got in Harare. I know I am perfect for the Tests but I will not play in this format anymore, ”Mahmudullah quoted Imago members as saying on Friday.

This was Mahmudullah's return to the Test side after 18 months, having last played against Pakistan in Rawalpindi last year.

Mahmudullah was an all-format player from his Test debut in 2009 to 2017, but in the last four years he has been dropped twice from the Test side.

The latest was last year when he was dropped following low scores against Afghanistan, India and Pakistan in the 2019-20 season.

He was then given a white-ball central contract for 2020. He has played 197 ODIs and 89 T20Is, a format in which he has been Bangladesh's captain since 2019.
