Staff Reporter: A mobile court has sentenced a local UP member to 5 days imprisonment and impounded 10 motorcycles for obstructing the recovery of idle acquired land in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar. According to Beza and Upazila administration sources, a local gang has illegally constructed a pond on the land acquired by Beza of Ichakhali Union. UP member Sheikh Ashraf Uddin Rakib was booked in the area on December 5 (Tuesday) morning for assault and criminal force against a public servant on public duty under Section 1860 or 353 of the Penal Code for obstructing the local people while reclaiming land for digging illegal ponds by clearing the acquired coastal mangrove forests.
