Staff Reporter: Nurul Quader Sohail, the first petitioner to amend the provisions of election of government employees, has submitted a written application to the Chief Election Commissioner, demanding to ban postage in all elections.
Nurul Quader Sohel, former General Secretary of Bhairab Upazila Jatiya Party and participating as a Jatiya Party nominated candidate in the last national elections, is very popular with everyone in his constituency Bhairab for various social anomalies and issues of public importance.
In his application to the Chief Election Commissioner on Thursday (March 7), in the light of his election experience, he mentioned the urgent need to ban posters to prevent equality and discrimination in the election campaign of candidates. There is no chance. But suddenly some money-hungry person came to the election and posted posters in his entire constituency. But idealistic and honest politicians were subjected to extreme discrimination in elections due to not being able to put up competitive posters.
In view of the preparations for the upcoming upazila elections, he also said that even if the influential candidates tear down the posters of innocent candidates, they do not protest after the election due to the fear of torture by the influential candidates. In winter, if the poster is hung at night, it gets wet and falls down in the morning fog. As a result, the owners of a lot of money can put up posters once a day. A real politician cannot literally put up millions of posters every day. The poster falls on the ground and spoils the street environment.
He said many candidates used polythene. Despite being repeatedly told by the Department of Environment, it remains only in words, but there is no action. As a result, banned polythene destroys the environment. The cost of paper increases because of posters. As a result, the price of school-college students' books and notebooks increases and the nation is deprived of writing and reading books due to the high cost of publishing various types of literature and research books. As a result, we have fallen behind from being a nation of talent. In developed countries, there is no such waste in the name of posters.
