Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) last night rescued a madrasa student seven days after his abduction in Feni Sadar upazila.
The victim Mahmudul Hasan (10) is son of Jashim Uddin, resident of Dhalia village in the upazila.
Three persons were arrested in connection with the abduction. The three -- Abdullah Al Mamun of Noakhali, Tanvir Ahmed Emon of Feni and Sajibul Islam of Bhola -- were sent to jail by a local court this afternoon, a correspondent from Feni reports.
Quoting the victim's family, Rab-7 Camp Commander Squadron leader Abdullah Al Jaber Imran said that Mahmudul went out of his home on January 7 to go to his madrasa. Then, he went missing from Choumuhani Bazar on that day.
Later the abductors contacted his father and took some money as ransom, the Rab official said. But the abductors did not release Mahmudul. So, his family members filed a complaint with Rab to get their child back, he added. Then, Rab members conducted a raid at a house in Johur Hossain Chowdhury area and rescued the child and arrested the three.
Feni Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nizam Uddin confirmed the incident.
