Late on Friday evening, it appeared that the official websites of the Taliban, which took over power in Afghanistan after a lightning offensive last week, had been taken down.
Technical failure or something else appeared to be the cause of the problem.
Taliban websites are available in Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Urdu, and English. On Friday, none of the five could be reached.
Upon requesting comment, Cloudflare, which online records list as providing protection for Taliban sites, did not respond immediately.
According to The Washington Post, the outage was first reported.
