A UN contingent of peacekeeping engineers from Bangladesh helped construct it.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the UN Peacekeeping Engineering contingent received much appreciation for the pro-people construction works it did in South Sudan.

A meeting between the foreign minister and the acting minister of defense was held at the office of Gen. Chol Thon Balok in Juba on Friday.

According to the acting Defense Minister, Bangladesh peacekeepers deployed on UNMISS are doing an excellent job.

Bangladesh peacekeepers have contributed to the infrastructure as well as health services development in South Sudan and he commended them for being trained, disciplined, and efficient.

Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relationship with South Sudan, which offered to build a development partnership with the country.

It was suggested that pharmaceuticals, RMGs, agriculture, and ICTs might be the best sectors for cooperation between the two countries.

According to Dr. Momen, peace is a prerequisite for development in the philosophy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

For the two countries' peoples to achieve their common social and economic development aspirations, Dr. Momen stressed the importance of collaboration and partnership.

Bangladesh has pledged to support the admission of South Sudan to the United Nations.

After attending the program, the Foreign Minister attended another event held by the Bangladeshi community in Juba.

The Bangladesh expatriate community hosted a dinner in honor of the Foreign Minister.

Bangladeshi businessmen, entrepreneurs, and service providers constituted the majority of the Bangladeshi community.

According to the Foreign Minister, Bangladesh could play an important role in the development of bilateral relations between South Sudan and Bangladesh.
