The total number of hospitalized dengue patients hits 5,192 in Bangladesh since January 2021, with 213 new patients admitted to hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours till 8:00 am on Wednesday.
Of the patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, 188 were in Dhaka and 25 in other divisions, according to the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
Among the total 5,192 dengue patients, 4,953 have been in the capital city of Dhaka.
The DGHS authorities have so far sent data about 22 suspected dengue deaths to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research for confirmation if the deaths were due to dengue but the institute was yet to give its feedback as to what caused the deaths.
Some 907 dengue patients, including 841 in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment at 41 government and private hospitals on Wednesday.
Only 66 patients were undergoing treatment at hospitals in other divisions across the country.
Since January 2021, a total of 4,262 hospitalized patients have recovered from dengue, said the DGHS report.
