A woman and her daughter were killed and two others injured in a road accident on the Madaripur-Shibchar regional roadin Jaduarchar area under Shibchar upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Jesmin Begum, 35, daughter of Eskan Faraji of Jaduarchar area of the upazila and her 8-year-old daughter Mahfuza Akhter.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Police Station Md Miraj Hossain said the accident took place in the area at around 9.30 am when a truck hit a battery-run auto rickshaw van from behind, leaving its four passengers injured.
The injured were taken to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Jesmin and her daughter Mahfuza dead, the OC added.
