Spanish outlet La Porteria reports that FC Barcelona have made a last-ditch attempt to keep Lionel Messi at the club, relayed by Journalist Joan Vehils who described a 'close' relationship with club president Joan Laporta
AS reports that FC Barcelona CEO, Ferran Reverter, called Messi's father, Jorge, early on Tuesday to propose a new deal to keep Messi at the Camp Nou, per the program La Porteria on betevé.
We did not yet have concrete confirmation or denial of this news when it broke around two in the morning. The report stated that certain members of the Barça hierarchy do not believe the final nail into the exit coffin has yet been driven.
As we reported earlier today, Messi will sign a contract to join PSG later today, so it appears this new offer comes at a time when everything else points at Paris. In light of this, there is little confidence that a last-ditch bid will succeed, but with Barcelona management, as experienced as this one, we can never rule out anything.
