Globally, there are more than 214 million cases of Covid

While mass inoculations are underway, the overall number of Coronavirus cases globally has surpassed 214 million as several countries fight against the tougher Delta variant.

Johns Hopkins University (JHU) reports that the total number of cases reached 214,840,644 on Thursday morning, and the death toll reached 4,462,916.

Five hundred thirty-five million vaccine doses have been administered across the globe to date.

There have been 38,221,908 cases in the United States, the country with the most cases and deaths so far. Moreover, 632,262 people have died in the US up to this point, based on data from JHU.

In Brazil, there were 576,645 deaths and 20,645,537 cases Wednesday, respectively, making it the country with the second-highest death toll in the world, after the United States.

Indian neighbours had a total of over 32.5 million Covid cases on Wednesday. 435,758 people have died in the country.

In India, Covid-19 may be entering an endemic stage with a low or moderate level of transmission, according to the World Health Organization.

A population that has been infected by a virus for a while is considered endemic. The situation differs from that of an epidemic stage, when an entire population is overwhelmed, reports Xinhua.

Bangladesh's current state of affairs

114 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been recorded in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, but the mortality rate and positivity rate have also fallen steadily.

In the past two months, four fatalities have been recorded every day except one, and the number was 114 for the second consecutive day.

There has also been a decline in fresh Covid cases, with 4,966 people testing positive during this time period versus 5,249 the day before.

A new report by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) brings the country's total number of fatalities and cases to 25,627 and 1,477,930, respectively.

There were 112 deaths associated with the Coronavirus on June 29, and there were 264 deaths associated with the virus on August 5 and 10.

According to the DGHS, 33,640 samples were tested in 24 hours, which reduced the daily positivity rate to 14.76 percent from Tuesday's 15.12% and Monday's 15.54 percent.

The recovery rate rose to 94.02%, but the case fatality remained unchanged at 1.73% compared to the same period.

The government will start administering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccines under its mass inoculation campaign on September 7, according to the head of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Bangladesh on August 7 kicked off its mass vaccination drive aimed at inoculating as many adults as possible in a short period of time.
