Executive Magistrate of the Mobile Court and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Mirsarai Upazila, Mizanur Rahman told ' the Daily tourist', “During the raid on specific complaints, the issue of excavation of ponds and sale of land elsewhere and illegal sand mining. The criminal was identified as Bimal Chandra Das, 28, of Narsinghpur, who was arrested while selling the soil elsewhere with an excavator. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined Tk 50,000.

Nasir Sheikh, who was once arrested for illegal sand mining, was sentenced to three months imprisonment and fined Rs 1 lakh. Abdul Haque was sentenced to three months imprisonment and fined taka 1 lakh.

Riyad Hossain was sentenced to two months' imprisonment and Arif was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. The five were handed over to Jorarganj police station yesterday (Tuesday) evening. The accused were sent to court on Wednesday morning.
