Bangladesh and Vietnam Strengthen Bilateral Investment Ties

Staff Reporter :  Today, December 1, 2024: H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vietnam's Ambassador to Bangladesh, met with Mr. Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, the head of BIDA and BEZA. They discussed ways to boost investment between the two countries, focusing on fisheries, farming, food production, technology, and mining. Ambassador Nguyen praised Bangladesh’s potential and noted the similarities in both countries’ development journeys. He also shared Vietnam’s willingness to help Bangladesh grow its small and medium businesses. Mr. Ashik Chowdhury shared BIDA's plans to make it easier to do business in Bangladesh. These include setting up a special team to help foreign investors, holding monthly online meetings with government officials to discuss investment policies, and creating a new website with clear information and answers to common questions. He said the government is working to cut red tape and create a welcoming environment for investors. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong suggested clearer rules on taxes, investment benefits, and specific regional opportunities to attract businesses from Vietnam. Both sides agreed to work together to strengthen their relationship and solve problems in policy implementation to make business easier between the two countries. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Nguyen said Vietnam is ready to share its experience in economic development, especially in supporting small businesses, offering tax benefits, and improving infrastructure.
