The first phase of the World Ijtema at the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur, concluded with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) on Sunday. The prayer began at 9:10 AM and continued until 9:36 AM. The Munajat was led by Hafiz Maulana Zubair, the Imam and Khatib of Kakrail Mosque.
The area around the Turag River and the Ijtema ground in Tongi became filled with the sound of "Ameen Ameen" as the Munajat ended.
Prayers were offered for guidance, unity, peace, prosperity, and salvation in both this life and the hereafter, and for the widespread propagation of the Islamic message. The prayer also included requests for unconditional forgiveness from Allah for all types of sins.
Before the Munajat, devotees began arriving from Dhaka and surrounding areas early in the morning to participate. After the Fajr prayer, lectures began in the Ijtema field, where various aspects of Islam were discussed. Maulana Abdur Rahman from India gave a religious lecture, followed by a guidance lecture by Maulana Ibrahim Dewola, also from India.
The first phase of this year's Ijtema saw participation from 41 districts and parts of Dhaka, along with foreign attendees. The overall management of the event received positive feedback from the participants.
This year's World Ijtema is being held in three phases. The first phase began on January 31 and ended with today's Akheri Munajat. The second phase will begin on February 3 and conclude with the Akheri Munajat on February 5. The third phase, organized by the followers of Saad Kandhalvi, will be held on February 14, with the Akheri Munajat concluding the 2025 World Ijtema on February 16.
