A memorable reunion to celebrate the centenary of Chupair High School

Shahbaz Khan Mashfi, Dhaka: A reunion of alumni was held on the occasion of the centenary of the establishment of Chupair High School, a traditional educational institution in Jamalpur Union of Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur. The event was organized in a festive atmosphere on Saturday, December 27 in the morning on the school premises. The event was presided over by former student of the school, prominent social worker and politician Khalequzzaman Bablu.

Kaliganj Upazila Executive Officer ATM Kamrul Islam inaugurated the event as the chief guest. Former Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam was the chief guest at the event. Director General of Water Resources Planning Agency Mohammad Lutfur Rahman, Professor of the Institute of Education and Research of Dhaka University Dr. SM Hafizur Rahman and DMD and Head of Operation of BRAC Bank Md. Moniruzzaman Mollah spoke as special guests. Also present were Md., Chairman of the America Expatriate Mollah Welfare Trust. Golzar Hossain Molla, Delwar Khan, Professor Humayun Kabir Khan Babul, Nur Mohammad Khan, Lutfar Rahman Belal, Shamim, Jamil, Tapas Kumar Hiru, Aynal, Dr. Nabakumar Debnath and other eminent people from various classes and professions.

The school premises turned into a gathering place in the presence of thousands of guests including current and former teachers, students, guardians and local dignitaries of the school at the centenary celebration. It is worth mentioning that this educational institution was established in 1925 in the remote village of Chupaire in the upazila by local Gyantapas Babu Shashi Mohan Chakraborty. He also served as the first headmaster of the school. Currently, 17 assistant teachers under the leadership of the headmaster of the school, Swapan Kumar Debnath, are teaching 530 students from class VI to secondary. 7 employees are engaged in the overall activities of the school. Chupaire High School is not limited to Chupaire village only; It has been playing an important role for a long century as the educational center for numerous students of the neighboring Kalapatua, Chhailadi, Mendipur, Barobhola, Bajadi, Ratkana, Shinglab, Kapaish, Shibpur, Belna, Majhukhan, Jangalia, Baghun, Moishair, Kalun, Kauchan, Dakshinbag, Bhatira, Khagrachar, Uttar Jamalpur and the Fuldi-Berua region. The speakers at the event said that Chupair High School stands proudly today after completing its centenary. The memories, emotions and responsibilities of thousands of former students are associated with this school. It is not just an educational institution—it is a belief, a spiritual bond and a living history. This institution is moving forward to fulfill the responsibilities of the present while preserving the traditions of the past. The speakers also said that a plan has been taken to form a welfare fund for the poor and talented students of the school with the help of former students, so that no student is deprived of the light of education financially. After various day-long events, the convener of the celebration committee declared the centenary celebration and reunion program to be concluded with a pleasant cultural program in the afternoon.
