In an operation conducted across 16 police stations in the city, the police have arrested 15 leaders and activists from the Awami League, Jubo League, Labor League, and Chhatra League in the past 24 hours.
On Saturday night (February 1), Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Imran Hossain from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police's Public Relations Branch issued a statement confirming the arrests.
The statement mentioned that during the operation, 15 individuals associated with the banned organization Chhatra League, including suspects in a case related to the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement, were arrested.
The arrested individuals are: Mohammad Shamsuddin (39), Mohammad Sahed (26), Mohammad Mahbub Alam (52), Akbar Hossain (23), Mohammad Ramjan (19), Mohammad Jahidul Islam Sakib (22), Hriday Hasan (19), Mohammad Abbas Uddin (30), Mohammad Zakir Hossain (25), Talha Zubair (24), Mehdi Hasan Tushar (26), Alamgir Badsha (42), Mohammad Mamun (35), Mohammad Monir (37), and Mohammad Imran Hossain (40).
The statement also clarified that they face multiple charges under the Special Powers Act and Anti-Terrorism Act, including involvement in the attack on student protesters in the anti-discrimination movement.
