Shah Ali Bachchu Staff Reporter Jamalpur. Brave freedom fighter A.S. Sobhan (67) of Paschim Adra village of Melandaha upazila of Jamalpur has been buried with state honors. He was given state honors before the funeral prayer at 11 am on May 31. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S.M. Alamgir, Officer-in-charge and other dignitaries were present at the time. A.S. Sobhan is the founder general secretary of Melandaha Reporters Unity and father of Bangladesh Pratidin journalist Sheikh Farid. He passed away on the evening of May 30 due to cardiac arrest. At the time of his death, he left behind his wife, 2 sons, 2 daughters, grandchildren and numerous admirers. Before the funeral, speeches were made by 71's guerrilla Abul Hossain, veteran journalist Talukder Alamgir Ahmed Shahjahan, Reporters Unity President-Ittefaq correspondent Shah Jamal, Adra Union BNP President Al Helal, A: Hamid Sabdul Member, Khalilur Rahman Member, among others. His death cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
