The former Member of Parliament for Chattogram-15 (Lohagara-Satkania) constituency, Abdu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi, has been granted a four-day remand for questioning in connection with two separate cases. Additionally, he has been arrested in another murder case. On Sunday (January 26), two separate judges from the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Court issued this order.
Chattogram District Judge's Public Prosecutor (PP) Mofiqul Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the information. He said, "This morning, former MP Nadvi was brought to court under strict security. On this day, the police filed remand petitions for seven days and five days for questioning in two separate cases from the Chandgaon police station. After hearing, the court granted a four-day remand, with two days for each case."
"Additionally, based on the police's request, the court has ordered him to be arrested in a separate murder case from the city's Sadarghat police station," he added. According to court sources, Nadvi was brought to the court from Chattogram District Jail at around 9:30 AM under heavy security.
Earlier, on January 22, the court had granted a four-day remand for him in connection with two separate cases from the Lohagara and Satkania police stations, following a police request. After the student-led uprising that led to the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5 of last year, multiple cases were filed against Nadvi in various police stations of Satkania, Lohagara, and the city. After being a fugitive for a long time, he was arrested in Dhaka on December 15.
Dr. Abdu Reza Muhammad Nezamuddin Nadvi was a Member of Parliament from the Satkania-Lohagara constituency in Chattogram in 2014 and 2018 as a candidate from the Awami League. Although he ran as a party candidate in the 12th parliamentary elections, he lost to an independent candidate.
