Two people have died in a collision between a microbus and a truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sitakunda. Four others were injured in the incident. Upon receiving the news, the Fire Service, Highway Police, and locals rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.
The accident occurred at around 6 AM on Monday, February 3, in the Banglabazar area of Salimpur Union in Sitakunda. The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hossain (62), son of the late Kala Mia from Syedpur, Narayanganj, and Rahima Begum.
Anwar Hossain died at the scene, while Rahima Begum succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Chittagong Medical College (CMCH). The identities of the injured have not been confirmed yet. According to the Highway Police and Fire Service, the accident occurred when the microbus crashed into a stationary truck from behind at around 6 AM.
Al Mamun, Senior Station Officer of Kumira Fire Service, said, "We received the call at 6:15 AM and immediately arrived at the scene. We found one person dead and two others in critical condition, whom we took to CMCH. However, before we arrived, locals had already rescued three injured individuals and sent them to the hospital."
Abdul Momin, Officer-in-Charge of Bar Aulia Highway Police, said, "The microbus hit a stationary truck from behind. One person died at the scene, and another passed away in the hospital."
