Kazi Shahid, Gazipur Correspondent: Pubail police in Gazipur city have arrested three people on charges of involvement in an anti-terrorism law case. Police said that during special duty on the occasion of August 15, they were arrested in front of a tea shop next to the Dhaka Bypass Road in Meghdubi area of ward number 40 under Pubail police station. The arrested persons are Md. Khokon Mia (44), Md. Mobarak Hossain (54) of Meghdubi area and Md. Mohsin (36) of Kandania area of Kapasia police station. Police claim that during the operation, a Vivo Y19s Pro mobile phone was seized from Khokon Mia and an Infinix Smart 7 mobile phone from Mobarak Hossain. Police said that information and links of a WhatsApp group of ward number 40 Awami League were found on those mobile phones. In addition, five leaflets were recovered from Mohsin. The complaint states that the leaflets contained various anti-government statements. According to the police, the arrested persons are accused of participating in the activities of a banned entity, supporting it, aiding and abetting anti-state activities, disturbing public safety through propaganda on social media, and being involved in a conspiracy in collusion with the fugitive and unknown persons mentioned in the complaint. Case No. 08 has been filed with Pubail Police Station on August 16, 2026. Charges have been filed in the case under the relevant sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2009. Police said that the three arrested accused have been handed over to the learned court after completing the legal process.
