Md. Sharif Bhuiyan: Rupganj (Narayanganj) Correspondent: Ekattor Television journalist Riaz Hossain was attacked over a past dispute in Rupganj, Narayanganj. He was pelted with bricks by a group of local terrorists. The incident took place in front of the journalist's office in Chhamu Market area of Purbachal Sector 3 of the upazila on Wednesday (May 7) night. The injured journalist Riaz Hossain said that he had a long-standing dispute with Faruk Molla, son of Salam Molla of Rupganj Sadar Union. Due to this, Faruk Molla and his son Badhan Molla, Emon Molla, Fahim Molla, Sumon Molla, Kajal Molla, Rizvi Molla and 4-5 other unidentified persons planned and attacked him. They hit Riaz Hossain on the head, neck and back with bricks, seriously injuring him. At that time, when his friend Masud Chowdhury heard Riaz Hossain's screams, the attackers also beat him severely. Later, when the people around came running, the attackers threatened to kill everyone and fled. With the help of locals, the injured were rescued and first taken to the Rupganj Upazila Health Complex. After receiving primary treatment there, they were sent to a local private hospital for advanced treatment. Rupganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liaqat Ali said that the police reached the spot immediately after receiving the information about the attack on the journalist. He assured that the matter would be investigated seriously and the accused would be brought to justice soon.
