Md. Ismailul Karim (Lama Correspondent): Abu Musa (32) has been arrested in the case of the murder of his younger brother by his elder brother in Nayapara area No. 3 of Alikadam upazila in Bandarban, Hill district.
Police said that the incident took place due to a land dispute and family feud. The incident took place in front of Maqbul Saudagar's shop in Babupara area of Nayapara union No. 3 under Alikadam police station at 9:30 am on January 4. The deceased Nurul Absar Mamun (19) and his elder brother Abu Musa had an argument over a land dispute and the giving and taking of a cow and calf raised by their mother. At one stage of the argument, it turned into a scuffle and later into a fight. At that time, Abu Musa started hitting and punching his younger brother Mamun and biting his left ear, tearing off the lower part of his ear. Mamun died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.
The victim's mother Rabeya Begum filed a murder case 5 with Alikadam Police Station as the plaintiff. When the matter was reported to the Superintendent of Police of Bandarban district, instructions were given to arrest the accused immediately and investigate the case. A special team was formed under the leadership of SI Md. Harun Rashid, the investigation officer of the case. This team conducted raids at multiple places and with the cooperation of Lama Police Station, accused Abu Musa was arrested from a remote hilly area called Thandajhiri in Phansiakhali Union of Lama Upazila on Wednesday, January 8.
After the initial interrogation, the process of handing over the arrested accused to the court is underway. As a result of the police's quick raid, it was possible to arrest the main accused in the case within 72 hours. The investigation into the incident is underway and it was informed that the police will take necessary legal action in this regard.
