A woman named Umepru Marma (34) was shot while working on land in Roangchhari, Bandarban district, in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. However, it is unclear who or what caused the shooting. The incident occurred on Monday morning (January 13) in the Hemagri Para area of the Union.
The injured woman is from Hemagri Para village in Ward 8 of the Tatcha Union, and her father was Saching Pru Marma, who is now deceased. Locals reported hearing the sound of gunshots in the morning, and when they arrived at the scene, they found the woman lying on the ground, shot. The locals immediately rescued her and took her to the district hospital. Her brother, Kuching Nu, explained that she had come to visit the family’s home in the village the day before. While working on the land early in the morning, she was shot and fell to the ground. Villagers rescued her and brought her to the district hospital. After receiving initial treatment, she was referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The chairman of the Tatcha Union, Unumong Marma, confirmed that they had received news from the locals that a woman had been shot while working. She was rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Shuvro Mukul of Roangchhari Police Station stated that they had received reports of the woman being shot while working, but they are still uncertain about who was responsible for the incident. More details will be provided later.
