India's Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized the strategic importance of Bangladesh-India relations. He also stated that there would be no hostility between Bangladesh and India for their respective interests. General Dwivedi made these comments during the Indian Army's annual press conference in Delhi on Monday (January 13).
Recently, Bangladesh's Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman commented on the strategic importance of Bangladesh-India relations. He stated that the relationship between the two countries should be based on fairness. "India is our important neighbor. We are dependent on India in many ways, and India also benefits from us," he said. He further added that the relationship should be maintained based on fairness, ensuring that the people do not perceive India as exerting dominance over Bangladesh or doing anything contrary to the country's interests.
General Dwivedi reflected these points during his remarks, acknowledging the mutual strategic importance between the two countries. He said, "Bangladesh is strategically important to us... We are neighbors, and we must live together, understand each other, and there will be no hostility between Bangladesh and India for our own interests."
General Dwivedi reassured that there is no risk from any side at present. He said, "As of today, no risk has been observed from any party."
He also mentioned the shift in the situation on August 5. "During that change, I maintained communication with Bangladesh's Army Chief. On November 20, we also had a video conference, and the relationship between the military forces of the two countries is continuing normally," he said. Regarding military cooperation, he stated that the two countries' relationship is strong and the ties between the armies are good and perfect.
