Student Injured in Bus Accident, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Protests

In a bus accident in Raozan, a school student named Rimon Nath (15) was injured, prompting protests from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The injured student is currently receiving treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital, and his condition is reported to be critical, according to his family members. The incident occurred on Sunday night (February 2) at the Mia Bazar area of Noapara Patharhat on the Chittagong-Kaptai Road in Raozan Upazila.

After the incident, enraged locals vandalized the bus. On Monday morning (February 3), the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organized a protest march at Patharhat, demanding punishment for the bus owner and driver. Rimon Nath, the student injured in the bus accident, is the son of Lucky Devi and Kamal Nath from Nathpara, East Paikhain in Raozan's Bagowan Union. He is a 10th-grade student at Paikhain-Bagowan Sammanita High School.

At around 11 am on Monday, students and locals gathered at Patharhat Bazar under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, organizing a protest program. During this, they stopped five vehicles and checked their documents. Two vehicles were allowed to proceed as they had proper documentation, while the remaining vehicles were detained and handed over to the police. The protest march then proceeded through various areas of the Chittagong-Kaptai Road before ending at Noapara Patharhat Bazar.

Raozan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) A.K.M. Shafiqur Alam Chowdhury told Banglanews that legal actions are being processed regarding the student’s injury in the bus accident. Meetings have been held with both the students and the bus owners.
