Staff Reporter: The Public Administration Reform Commission is going to recommend to the government to abolish police verification in various fields, including recruitment in government jobs.
Commission head Abdul Mueed Chowdhury said this at a view-exchange meeting of the Public Administration Reform Commission with journalists at the Secretariat BIT on Tuesday (December 17).
He said, ‘Recruitment in jobs, police verification in various matters is a mandatory thing. We are recommending that this will not be. It will not be anywhere.’
The commission head said, ‘You are a citizen, it is your civil right to get a passport. Why do you have to do police verification. When you apply for a passport in England, the passport comes to the post office.’
Abdul Muyid Chowdhury said, ‘I think one thing – when a bad person comes to the country, what is the reason for not allowing him to enter? Rather, if he comes in, my advantage is that he can be punished. If someone wants to leave, he leaves, what is the problem? These things are done at the airport, I think it is a waste of time and unnecessary. Who does this, this invisible force – my personal opinion is that it should not happen.’
At that time, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Md. Mukhles Ur Rahman and other members of the commission were present.
