In celebration of the 48th anniversary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, a vibrant rally was held by the South Chattogram Metropolitan branch of Chhatra Shibir. The rally took place on Thursday, February 6, starting at 8 AM from Naya Bazar Bishwaroad and proceeding to the Badarpole intersection.
At the conclusion of the rally, a brief gathering was held, where the president of Chattogram Metropolitan South, Ibrahim Hossain Roni, addressed the audience. He said, "On February 6, 1977, Chhatra Shibir was established with the efforts of six individuals at the Central Jamia Mosque of Dhaka University. Today, it has become a trusted institution for millions of students. From the anti-autocratic movement in the '90s to the 2024 mass uprising, Chhatra Shibir has played both direct and indirect roles in every movement."
He continued, "In the future, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir will continue to play the role of a vigilant sentinel in safeguarding the country's independence and sovereignty."
The chief guest, Md. Shahidul Islam, Central College Activities and Business Education Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir, spoke about the post-independence era. He said, "After independence, during the rule of Mujib's BAKSAL, secularism, and left-wing terrorists, when the student community was directionless, Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir was founded as a beacon of light to lead the students. Since its inception, anti-Islamic forces have consistently opposed Chhatra Shibir. Over time, those who sought to suppress Chhatra Shibir have vanished and were forced to flee the country."
He added, "Since 2013, four of our brothers in Chattogram Metropolitan South have attained martyrdom. If necessary, Chhatra Shibir is prepared to offer countless more martyrs as a tribute." Discussing post-uprising politics in Bangladesh, he said, "During the past regime, the Awami League was turned into a religion, with Mujib being its unannounced prophet. In 2024, the student masses have uprooted this Mujibism. This 'Awami religion' will never be established again in Bangladesh."
The rally was attended by various leaders, including Maimunul Islam Mamun, Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan South of Chhatra Shibir.
