Shariful Haque: A human chain program was organized in Los Angeles, USA, by the initiative of the California Noakhali Implementation Council, a vital organization of expatriate Bangladeshis, demanding "Noakhali division".
The pride and creative child of Lalpur village of Maijdi Sonapur Upazila, Shahanara Begum Rekha, the best student declared by the government and a gold medal winner from the then Comilla Board, was present in the mentioned human chain. Thousands of expatriate Bangladeshis from Noakhali district were also present there. The expatriate Bangladeshis present in the human chain said, "We want 'Noakhali' division, we want division, we want Noakhali division", and the entire California city became abuzz with slogans demanding "Noakhali division". The leaders of the organization said, "We are the residents of Noakhali, our long-standing hope and aspiration is to divide our Noakhali. This is our demand."
