To build a drug-free and robbers-free Sonar Bangla, everyone must unite and fight: Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury

Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, a member of the National Press Club and President of the Bangladesh Editor Forum, said, "The red and green flag we earned through the Liberation War of 1971 is not only a symbol of independence but also a symbol of our duty and responsibility. Today, each of us must take an oath to fight against drugs, plundering, and injustice. We must move our society forward on the path of justice."

He continued, "We stand for justice, and we speak out against injustice and falsehood. We must identify those involved in the drug trade and the plundering of people’s resources. Everyone present here today must pledge that no one should be able to smuggle our country’s wealth abroad. Our fight is to build a drug-free, beautiful, and justice-based society."

He added, "We do not serve anyone, and we do not bow down to injustice. Those who have plundered the country's wealth and assisted the looters will not be spared. Activities like sports are not just entertainment; they are symbols of discipline, morality, and unity. Just like in cricket, where you must fight as a team to win, we must fight unitedly against all injustice and falsehood in our society."

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the final match of the NTB Premier League Night Short Pitch Cricket Tournament held on Friday night, January 17, at Kantirhat in Anwara Upazila, Chattogram. The event was presided over by renowned social worker and businessman Sheikh Ahmed. The chief guest was decorated freedom fighter and founder of South Bandar High School, Liakat Ali Chowdhury.

Special guests included the founder and secretary of Anwara Diabetic Hospital and International Media Director, Mr. Munir Chowdhury; Bureau Chief of Chattogram Bureau of MyTV and Editor of Chattogram Bani newspaper, Mr. Nurul Kabir; teacher Shantanu Majumdar from Chatari Multipurpose High School; prominent social worker and businessman Muktar Soudagar; and student leader Ariful Islam Roni.

Also present were Assistant Editor of Dainik Amader Chattogram A.N.M. Tajwar Alam, photojournalist Nurul Azam, General Secretary of Anwara Journalists' Association Farhadul Islam, and Joint General Secretary Jabedul Islam. In the final match, Gobadia Khan Group won the championship by defeating Chapatali Victorious Cricket XI in a competitive match.

In closing, Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury called on the audience and players to take an oath to make society drug-free and robber-free and requested everyone to enjoy the game peacefully.
