Amit Santosh: Former MP from Dhaka-5 constituency Kazi Monirul Islam Monu has been arrested by the Intelligence Department (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). He was arrested from Gulshan in the capital on Monday, April 21. The arrest has been confirmed by the DMP.
It is worth noting that Kazi Monirul Islam Monu has been the president of Jatrabari Thana Awami League since 2016.[3] In 2003, he was the president of the Greater Demra Thana Awami League. He was elected as a councilor from Ward No. 33 once and Ward No. 87 twice in the undivided Dhaka City Corporation elections in 1977. When Habibur Rahman Mollah, the MP from Dhaka-5 constituency, died on May 6, 2020, he was elected as a member of parliament in the by-election on October 17, 2020, on the vacant seat.
