The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased by 19 taka for a 12 kg cylinder in the country, as announced by the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC). The new price was revealed during a press conference held at the BERC conference room in Karwan Bazar, Dhaka, on Sunday (February 2).
It was announced that the price for February has been set at 1,478 taka per 12 kg cylinder, up from 1,459 taka last month. The new price for LPG gas will come into effect starting at 6:00 PM on the same day.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed explained that the price increase is due to rising international prices and the appreciation of the dollar, which has led to an average increase of 10 dollars per ton at the import level. Additionally, the price of autogas has been increased by 89 poishas per liter, bringing it to 67.74 taka per liter.
Other BERC members, including Syeda Sultana Razia, Md. Mizanur Rahman, and Md. Abdur Razzak, were also present at the conference. On the other hand, on February 1, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources increased the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol, and octane by 1 taka per liter through an executive order.
