News Desk: In the ongoing movement of various organizations, including professionals, there are often programs like besieging the Secretariat or marching towards the residence of the Chief Advisor.
Teachers of private primary schools who were excluded from the nationalization process were dispersed by police using batons and water cannons as they marched towards the residence of the chief advisor on Wednesday.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a public notice banning all types of meetings, gatherings, processions and processions in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the chief advisor on Jamuna.
The directive was announced in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali on Thursday. It said that the ban will remain in effect until further notice.
The ongoing agitation programs of various organizations, including professionals, often include programs like encircling the Secretariat or marching towards the residence of the chief advisor. The police are seen using batons and water cannons to stop the protesters.
The public notice said, “In the interest of maintaining public order, in accordance with the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, any kind of meeting, gathering, procession, etc., is prohibited in the Bangladesh Secretariat and the official residence of the Honorable Chief Advisor in Jamuna and the surrounding areas from today, March 13, until further orders.”
The notice also stated that the designated areas include Hotel Intercontinental intersection, Shahbag intersection, Kakrail intersection, and Minto Road.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, meetings, processions, and gatherings were held around the official residence of the Chief Advisor in Jamuna, the Secretariat, and the surrounding areas for various demands. On August 26 last year, the then Police Commissioner Mainul Hasan also issued a similar public notice.
Although it was announced at that time that this decision would remain in force until further orders, no public notice has been issued regarding whether it has been lifted.
