Special Correspondent: The Chattogram Journalists Association has strongly condemned and protested the death threat to Altaf Hossain, director of the Chittagong Division of the National Youth Union and executive member of the Chittagong Journalists Association (CJSA). This condemnation was expressed in a statement signed by the organization's executive member (in-charge of the department) Tushar Das on Saturday (November 1). In the statement, the CJSA leaders said that threatening to kill a responsible journalist on mobile is a very daring and condemnable crime. The purpose of such incidents is to intimidate journalists and hinder free journalism. The statement further said, "It is the responsibility of the administration to ensure the safety of journalists. Under no circumstances can obstacles be created in the way of publishing the truth. The culprits must be arrested quickly and brought to justice." Chittagong Journalists Association General Secretary Osman Ehtesam said in the statement, "The death threat to journalist Altaf Hossain is an extreme threat to the freedom of the media and law and order. We strongly protest this incident and strongly demand the administration to immediately arrest the person concerned." It is worth mentioning that journalist Altaf Hossain received a death threat on his mobile phone at 11:57 am on Wednesday from a person named Moin Uddin Bahar. The person was particularly angry because he mentioned the names of some teachers in a congratulatory message to the students who won the Chaksu and Raksu elections and threatened to kill him.
