The Daily Tourist News desk: Due to the violence caused by the quota reform movement, mobile internet services were closed for 10 consecutive days across the country. Many customers have purchased data packages but have expired by this time. Considering the loss of customers, it has been decided to give 5GB of data to all mobile internet users, which will be valid for three days.
State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak made this announcement at a briefing at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) at around 11:00 on Sunday (July 28).
Before this, he held a meeting with the officials of the country's mobile operator company, Mobile Financial Service (MFS), Association of Mobile Telephone Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB). BTRC Chairman Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed and officials of the regulatory body were also present there. In this meeting, this decision was taken considering the interests of mobile internet customers.
In the briefing, Junaid Ahmed Palak said that most of the mobile internet subscribers had purchased data packages. In fact, they have no fault personally. They could not actually use the internet as the network was not uninterrupted.
The state minister said, after considering the overall aspects, we have decided subject to discussion, those who will join the 4G service after the launch of mobile internet, then every mobile internet customer will get a bonus data package of 5 GB. This package will be valid for three days. All mobile operators have agreed on this.
