The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a task force to take action against illegal foreign nationals. The task force will be chaired by the Additional Secretary (Security & Immigration) of the Security Services Division, with the Joint Secretary (Immigration-2 Branch) as the Member Secretary. This information was confirmed through a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday (February 3), signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Kamruzzaman. The notification states that the task force has been formed to determine the actions to be taken regarding foreign nationals staying illegally in Bangladesh.
The task force will include the following members:
Director General, Prime Minister’s Office, Director General (Consular), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Joint Secretary (Political-1 Branch), Ministry of Home Affairs,Deputy Inspector General of Police (Immigration), Special Branch (SB), Additional Director General (Passport, Visa & Immigration), Department of Immigration and Passports, Director (Operations Wing), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Director, NGO Affairs Bureau, Prime Minister’s Office, Director (External Relations Wing), National Security Intelligence (NSI), Director (External Affairs & Liaison Bureau), Directorate General of Defence Intelligence
The committee’s responsibilities include coordinating and advising on the overall activities related to foreign nationals staying illegally in Bangladesh. The task force will provide instructions on necessary measures related to this issue and can make recommendations as needed. The task force can invite any officer or individual to attend its meetings and may co-opt members if necessary.
