Renewed Commitment to the Advancement of Bengali Culture

Sandeepana Celebrates Its 36th Anniversary with Great Enthusiasm

The country’s leading cultural organization, Sandeepana Central Council Bangladesh, celebrated its 36th founding anniversary with day-long programs held on 15 November at the Chittagong Theatre Institute. Hundreds of cultural activists from various branches across the country joined the celebration with great enthusiasm.

The program included:

• Hoisting of the national and organizational flags accompanied by the national anthem

• Key discussion sessions by distinguished guests

• Reminiscence sessions featuring both senior and junior cultural activists

• Banshi (flute) performances

• Flung bamboo flute performance from the Mro community’s cultural heritage

• Dotara performance

• Recitations

• Solo and group music presentations

• Mime

• Dance performances

• Drama staging

• Cultural activists’ conference

The opening ceremony was inaugurated by Sandeepana’s central president, renowned fashion designer Rowshan Ara Chowdhury, along with the invited guests.

Distinguished guests included:
Eminent flutist Ostad Captain Azizul Islam;
Former USTC Vice-Chancellor and prominent medical scientist Professor Dr. Probhat Chandra Barua;
Social scientist and CU Senate member Dr. Manjurul Amin Chowdhury;
Freedom fighter Muhammad Nurul Islam;
Poet and writer Ashish Sen;
Dr. M.A. Muktadir, a key organizer of the Bengali Language Reform Movement;
Professor Mahi Mohammad;
Journalist Belayet Hossain;
Journalist Mukul Shikdar;
Lion Dulal Kanti Barua;
Organizer Milon Rudra;
Educationist Toronikumor Sen;
History researcher Sohel Mohammad Fakhruddin;

The event began with a welcoming speech from Sandeepana’s founder director and editor, renowned sculptor D.K. Dash Mamun.
Celebration committee convener Maulana Md. Hossain later delivered congratulatory remarks during the inauguration session.

In the reminiscence segment featuring Sandeepana’s senior and junior activists, participants included:
Film artist Huzutullah Himu, Jahanara Parul, Emran Hossain Mithu, artist Brishti Das, freedom fighter Golam Nabi, organizer Kamal Uddin, journalist Mukul Sikdar, Ankhi Akter, Md. Rashed, Ujjal Singh, Didar Hossain, Seema Das, Saidur Rahman Chowdhury, fine artist Rakesh Chowdhury, organizer Masum Akhtar, film artist Jaber Hossain, artist Dr. Shiuli Chowdhury, Muslim Ali Jony, Akherunnesa Dina, Bithi Rani Singh, Diya Das, Sojal Das, Mizanur Rahman, Huzutullah Himu, Najmul Abedin Abhi, among many others.

Guest performances were delivered by:

• Shubhra Biswas (audio drama)

• Ananya Barua and her troupe (dance performance)

• Ayesha Haque Shimu (recitation artist)

Two stage productions were performed:

• The mime drama “Porichchhonn Roddur”, directed by Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury

• The theatre play “Jibon-Ghor Pathshala”, directed by sculptor D.K. Dash Mamun

Stage managers for the performances were K.K. Babul and Pompi Dash.

The event concluded with Sandeepana’s organizational theme song performed by all the artists of the organization.
