Kamalnagar (Laxmipur) Correspondent: An attempt was made to forcibly occupy two shops belonging to a former UP member named Gias Uddin Member at Ramgatti in Laxmipur. Meanwhile, six people including a pregnant woman were beaten and seriously injured. The incident took place in Azadnagar market of Charporagachha union of the upazila on Saturday morning. On receiving the information, the army members went to control the situation and arrested four accused persons from the spot. Among the injured, Antatwa Janatul Ferdaus (28), Khadija Begum (70) and Fatema Begum (50) have been admitted to Noakhali General Hospital. Other injured Arju Begum (40), Kulsum Begum (35) and Manwara Begum (34) are being treated locally. After going to the ground and talking to the victims and the locals, it is known that the former member of Charporagachha Union Parishad of the upazila Giyas Uddin Member has been buying the 9th century land of Azadnagar market under registered number 1130 of Charkalakapa Mauza four years ago and has been renting the shop house. But for the benefit of being the owner of another land in the same khatian, Abdur Rahman Gongra of Alexander area secretly recorded four hundred lands of Ghiyas Uddin. After learning about the matter, Giyas Uddin Lakshmipur Land Survey Tribunal filed a case (No.-1812/24) for revision of that record on October 8. The court took cognizance of the case and issued summons against the defendants. In the meantime Abdur Rahman his brother Raihan Prakash Rana and Md. Giyas Uddin went to take over the shophouses on Saturday morning with Noman and the mercenaries. Meanwhile, they took the tenant out of the shop and started vandalizing it. On hearing the news, six female members of Giyas Uddin's family came and stopped him. Meanwhile, Rahman and his men beat and injured the women. On receiving the news, a group of members of the Ramgati army camp quickly reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, accused Noman, Rana, Shahadat and Matin were arrested from the spot and taken to the camp. Giyas Uddin member said, he has been out of the area for several days for family work. That's why the female members of the family ran away after getting the news of the encroachment of his shop. But even those women were not spared from the enemy. He said, with the help of the locals, the relatives rescued the injured women and admitted them to the hospital. Legal action will be taken in this case. Meanwhile, several calls were made to Abdur Rahman's cell phone for a statement in this regard, but it was not possible to speak. Ramgati Army Camp Commander Captain Md. Yaman said, they quickly went to the spot after receiving the news of the occupation of the shop in a monstrous manner. He arrested four people and brought the situation under control. He said that the market management committee has been given the responsibility to maintain normal conditions in the market until the court's verdict. He also said that the arrested will be handed over to the police station. The army will continue to try to control various crimes including assault and encroachment. Ramgati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kabir Hossain said that the arrested have not been handed over to the police station yet. Moreover, no written complaint has been made to the police station on behalf of the victims. Complaints will be investigated and necessary action will be taken.
