Kuet demand action against those creating unrest

News desk : Khulna University of Engineering and Technology's teachers on Wednesday labelled those responsible for destabilizing the campus as miscreants and demanded that they be brought to justice immediately for violent clashes in February. Additionally, they expressed strong resentment toward the students who disregarded the syndicate’s decision and forcibly entered the halls by breaking the locks.

They also demanded that all measures be taken in accordance with the syndicate’s decision, Shaheduzzaman Sheikh, public relations officer at Kuet, confirmed in a press release.

According to the press release, the Kuet vice-chancellor held a discussion meeting with the teachers on Wednesday in the university’s conference room regarding the clashes on February 18 and the subsequent situation, as well as the next steps to be taken.

In the meeting, the vice-chancellor presented the steps taken by the university so far in the current situation and requested the attending teachers to share their opinions on the next steps.

In their statements, the teachers said that they demand justice for the tragic attacks and harassment that students and teachers faced on February 18 and 19.

They also demanded that those responsible be brought to justice based on the report provided by the investigation committee.

The teachers further stated that certain groups are currently active in trying to destabilize the campus. They demanded that these miscreants be brought under immediate punishment.

The teachers called for respect toward the decisions of the syndicate and urged that all steps regarding the resumption of academic activities be taken based solely on the syndicate’s decision.

Moreover, the teachers expressed intense anger over some students breaking into the halls by disregarding the syndicate’s decision. They also expressed deep concern over the case filed against the students by a certain individual and gave directives for taking immediate steps toward withdrawing the case.

The teachers expressed strong condemnation of the attacks, insults, and offensive remarks made by certain students against the vice-chancellor and teachers.

At the end of the meeting, the vice-chancellor expressed gratitude to all the teachers present for providing their valuable opinions and assured that the university administration will remain beside the students in any of their needs.
