Benzamin Rafiq : Love Bangladesh Party on Monday (December 2) condemned and strongly protested the attack on Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Agartala, Tripura by an Indian extremist Hindutva organization.
Stating that the Indian government must apologize to the people of Bangladesh, Love Bangladesh Party founding president journalist Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury said in a statement that recently the Indian media has been spreading lies one after another on Bangladesh's internal issues. Today, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, was vandalized, and Bangladeshi firecrackers were set on fire. Members of an organization called Hindu Sangharsh Samiti committed this heinous incident. I ask, if an organization called 'Muslim Sangharsh Samiti' had committed this incident in Bangladesh, what kind of aggressive propaganda would India have indulged in?
The statement also said that according to international law, the Indian government is responsible for providing complete security to the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission on Indian soil. They have failed to do this. We condemn this failure. We condemn the comments of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata. What is happening in different parts of India, on the minority community, should rather make India ashamed. We believe in friendship based on equality and equal rights. Sheikh Hasina's government believed in the policy of appeasement of India in the greed of staying in power without a vote. However, India should understand - this is not Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh. Bangladesh is an independent, sovereign and self-respecting state. This Bangladesh is a fearless young community. We strongly condemn and protest these behaviors of Indian extremists.
We demand from the Bangladesh Foreign Ministry - the Indian ambassador should be immediately summoned to condemn this incident and forced to apologize to the people of Bangladesh. A strong message should be sent to the Indian government not to interfere in the internal affairs of Bangladesh.
