The police have arrested five individuals during an operation on CRB Fencis Road in the Kotwali area of Chittagong city. Various firearms were recovered from their possession during the arrest. The operation took place at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 9, behind the abandoned railway quarters.
According to the police, the arrested suspects had been terrorizing passengers and pedestrians in the area, threatening them with knives and stealing valuables. They are active members of a professional gang involved in robbery and theft. The arrested suspects are: Mohammad Akbar Hossain (25), Imam Hossain alias Ibrahim (25), Mohammad Belal (33), Mohammad Rubel (27), and Mohammad Alamgir Hossain (36).
Mahmuda Begum, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Public Relations) of the city police, told journalists that cases under the Robbery and Arms Acts have been filed against the five individuals. They were sent to court in the afternoon.
