Staff Reporter: Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has blamed former chief justices ABM Khairul Haque and Syed Mahmud Hossain for the destruction of the judiciary, including the caretaker government system.
On Tuesday (December 17), the High Court declared several articles, including the relevant articles of the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, which abolished the caretaker government system, as illegal and invalid. The High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury gave this verdict. As a result, the election-time caretaker government system has returned.
Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman spoke to reporters after the verdict. At this time, he said that after former chief justice ABM Khairul Haque, another former chief justice Syed Mahmud Hossain is responsible for the destruction of the judiciary, including the caretaker government system.
Meanwhile, in its observation of the verdict, the High Court said that the Fifteenth Amendment was contrary to the summary judgment of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
