Chattogram Police Crack Abdul Hakim Murder Case: Six Arrested, Huge Cache of Arms Recovered

Saiful Islam, Staff Reporter:

Under the directive of the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chattogram District, check posts have been set up in Noapara, Chowdhuryhat, and surrounding areas. Law enforcement authorities are conducting regular patrols, special drives, and nighttime combing operations to maintain law and order, curb terrorist activities, and ensure public safety.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Md. Abdullah Khokon alias Lengra Khokon alias Aman Ullah, Md. Maruf, Ziaur Rahman, Md. Saklain Hossain, Md. Sakib, and Shahed. Alongside identifying the mastermind and associates behind the murder, the police also recovered a large cache of local and foreign firearms, ammunition, and a motorcycle used in the crime.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Chattogram District Superintendent of Police Md. Saiful Islam Santu, BPM-Bar, and led by DB Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rabiul Alam Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle) Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz, and OC Manjur Kader Bhuiyan of Hathazari Model Police Station, with the assistance of other officers and forces.

Background of the Incident

On the morning of October 7, 2025, businessman Abdul Hakim left for Hamim Agro Farm in his private car. On his way back to Chattogram city in the afternoon, as he reached the western side of the Madunaghat Bridge, unidentified assailants on a motorcycle intercepted his car and opened indiscriminate fire. He was rescued in a critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, the District Detective Branch (DB) and Hathazari Police launched an immediate investigation based on initial intelligence and confidential reports.

Arrests and Recoveries through Sequential Operations

  • October 31: Police arrested Md. Abdullah Khokon alias Lengra Khokon from Garib Ullah Para, Bagoan Union, Raozan. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement and gave a statement under Section 164 in court.

  • November 2: Based on Khokon’s information, Md. Maruf was arrested from Chowdhuryhat, Noapara, Raozan. His confession led to the identification of the location of the weapons used in the murder, which were in the possession of Md. Saklain Hossain.

  • November 4: In a special raid, police arrested Saklain Hossain and recovered a single-barrel shotgun, an LG (locally made gun), and the motorcycle used in the attack.

  • November 9: Acting on information from the suspects under police remand, a special team raided the house of Ayub Ali Saudagar in Chowdhuryhat, Noapara, Raozan. During the operation, police recovered four foreign pistols, one revolver, one Chinese rifle, one short gun, 49 rifle rounds (7.62mm), 17 shotgun cartridges, 19 pistol bullets (7.65mm), seven magazines, two machetes, one rocket flare, 50 yaba tablets, approximately 250 grams of cannabis, and BDT 96,000 in cash. Two more individuals were arrested during the raid.

Motive Behind the Murder

The district police investigation revealed that the murder was the result of a conflict over control of local sand depots (balumahal) and territorial dominance in the Raozan area.

Ongoing Security Measures

Under the directives of the District Police Superintendent, police have intensified patrols, night raids, and special drives in Noapara, Chowdhuryhat, and adjacent areas.

The SP reaffirmed that the Chattogram District Police will continue its integrated operations to uphold law and order, suppress terrorist activities, and ensure the safety of the general public.
