Benjamin Rafiq: A true symbol of what the word "people's representative" means, was the leader of the soil and people of Adiabad, Haji Ismail Hossain. The example of honesty, transparency and unselfishness that he set as the chairman of Adiabad Union Parishad in Raipura Upazila of Narsingdi will remain a rare and golden chapter in the history of Bangladesh.
At a time when news of embezzlement of government funds constantly disappoints us, he was a fearless sailor going against the tide. After implementing various public welfare projects, he returned the surplus money to the government treasury without hesitation. This act is not only an example of administrative transparency; it is a victory of great morality. Such an example is unique in Bangladesh!
He has taught through his work that power is not a pleasure, but rather a sacred responsibility to protect the trust of the people. His selfless act will remain an ideal to follow and a beacon of eternal inspiration not only for the people of Adiyabad, but also for all public representatives across the country.
