Staff Reporter: An investigation committee will be formed within the next five working days into the BDR (currently BGB) killings in Peelkhana, said Home Affairs Advisor Major General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. The advisor made this known at a press conference on the BDR killings at the Secretariat on Tuesday (December 17).
The advisor said that the committee will include retired judges, retired administration officials, retired police officers and armed forces officers.
He said, the interim government is determined to reinvestigate the BDR killings and ensure justice. The Home Ministry has been working since the formation of the interim government. As the advisor in charge of the ministry, I have been vocal from the beginning in reinvestigating the BDR killings and ensuring justice and I still am.
I announced this for the first time on September 2 at the Home Ministry and for the second time on November 4 during my visit to the BGB headquarters, which was broadcast in various print, electronic and online media.’
The advisor said, not only as the Home Ministry’s designated advisor, but also as a common citizen and former member of the army, I have been demanding justice for the BDR killings from the beginning.
