Sharif Bhuiyan, Rupganj, Narayanganj Journalists working in local print and electronic media have held a human chain and protest program in protest of the terrorist attack on 71 Television's Rupganj correspondent journalist Riaz Hossain in Rupganj, Narayanganj and demanding the immediate arrest of those involved. At this time, journalists from Narayanganj District Journalists Union, Araihazar Thana Press Club, Araihazar Reporters Club and representatives of the Student Movement Against Discrimination participated in the program expressing solidarity with them. The program was held in front of the office of the Rupganj Upazila Executive Officer at 11 am on Monday. The speakers in the human chain demanded the immediate arrest of the identified terrorists Faruk Molla, Badhan Molla, Emon Molla, Fahim Molla, Sumon Molla, Kajal and those involved in the attack and exemplary punishment. They said that if the safety of journalists is not ensured, independent journalism will be under threat. The heinous attack on journalist Riaz Hossain proves that a sinister group wants to obstruct the delivery of true and objective news. The journalists have given a 24-hour ultimatum, saying that if the attackers are not arrested and brought to justice quickly, the journalist community will be forced to take stricter action.

At around 12:30 pm, Rupganj Upazila Executive Officer Saiful Islam assured the speedy arrest and punishment of the attackers on journalist Riaz, but the journalists withdrew their program. It is worth mentioning that on May 7 (Wednesday) night around 9:30 pm, local terrorist Faruk Molla, his son Badhan Molla, Emon Molla and Fahim Molla, Sumon Molla, Kajal Molla and 6/7 other unidentified people carried out a planned attack in front of the Rupganj journalist office in the Samu Market area of ​​Rupganj due to a previous dispute. At that time, they hit him with bricks on his head, neck and back, causing serious injuries. At that time, his friend Masud Chowdhury came forward after hearing my screams and the attackers also beat him up and seriously injured him. Later, with the help of locals, he was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctors on duty admitted him to a private hospital for advanced treatment. Currently, his condition is said to be critical. In this incident, the minor plaintiff of injured journalist Riaz Hossain has filed a written complaint with Rupganj Police Station accusing 7 named people and 5 unknown people. Meanwhile, the accused terrorist Farooq and his family members are threatening to cause great harm to journalist Riaz and his family members, including filing harassment cases, if this is exaggerated. They are currently in extreme insecurity. It is known that the attacker is spreading various propaganda against Riaz on social media to protect himself.
