After three days, the Arakan Army releases two cargo ships

It has been reported that the two cargo ships, which were previously held by Myanmar’s rebel group, the Arakan Army, have been released. On Monday (January 20) at around 10 AM, two of the three ships departed from Naikhyongdia in the Naf River, in the Bangladesh-Myanmar maritime boundary, heading towards the Teknaf land port. The remaining ship is still there. This information has been confirmed by Syed Mohammad Anwar Hossain, the manager of the Teknaf Land Port United Land Port.

Earlier, on Thursday (January 16) afternoon, the Arakan Army detained three cargo ships at the mouth of the Naf River while they were en route from Yangon, Myanmar, to the Teknaf land port in Cox's Bazar. The ships were carrying approximately 50,000 sacks of dried fish, betel nuts, coffee, and various other goods worth around 40 crore taka. The importers of these goods include several businessmen, such as Shawkat Ali, Omar Faruk, Mohammed Ayas, M.A. Hasem, and Mohammad Omar Wahid.
