Tangail correspondant: Uday (father: Jamil Mia), a resident of Biswas Betka At Pukur area under Tangail Sadar Upazila, has been accused of attacking and injuring his aunt Mahbuba Akhter Shiuli and niece. The victim, Mahbuba Akhter Shiuli, has filed a written complaint with Tangail Sadar Model Police Station.
The complaint states that on the morning of April 10, aunt Mahbuba Akhter Shiuli was staying at her father's house to discuss her ancestral property. At that time, Uday locked them inside the house, closed the gate and beat them severely. Uday's mother Salama also participated in the attack. When she tried to record video footage, her mobile phone was taken away. Later, when people around came forward after Shiuli screamed, Uday ran away.
Locals said that Uday is a known drug addict and anti-social. He was previously accused of forcing a girl to marry. The locals demand that strict legal action be taken against Uday and his family.
It is worth noting that SI Nuru Ullah Sarkar was in charge of investigating a previous complaint. The victims allege that effective action was not taken against the accused as he did not perform his duties properly. He has also been given the responsibility of investigating the latest complaint, to which the plaintiff has objected and demanded a change of the investigating officer.
No immediate statement was received from Tangail Sadar Model Police Station on this matter. The locals demand that the incident be subject to an impartial investigation and justice be ensured.
