Moral values are the biggest force in preventing corruption

Mu. Asaduzzaman Liton: Corruption will be significantly reduced if speedy and fair trial is ensured at all levels in the country, said Gazipur District Anti-Corruption Commission Inspector Saimum Nahar Sultana. He said that to build a corruption-free society, morality, honesty and leadership qualities must be developed among students. He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the anti-corruption awareness series debate competition organized with the participation of students from various educational institutions at St. Nicholas School and College and Bagdi High School in Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur on Tuesday. The program, chaired by Kaliganj Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Nayebur Rahman Masud, was attended by special guests, including St. Nicholas School and College Principal Brother Ujjwal Placid Perera (CSC), Bagdi High School Senior Teacher Md. Moklesur Rahman, Committee Advisor Md. Ruhul Amin and Farhad Uddin Fulu, General Secretary Ismail Hossain Morol, Vice President Fiara Begum and Executive Members Senior Journalists Maksudel Hossain Khan (Maksu) and Mamun Ur Rashid. Teachers, guardians and a large number of students were present at the event. Chief guest Saimum Nahar Sultana said that there is no alternative to developing moral values, logic and leadership qualities among students. Such debate competitions play an important role in increasing their thinking power and social responsibility. Special guest and member of the Corruption Prevention Committee, journalist Maksudel Hossain Khan told the students that there will be wins and losses in the competition. Citing the example of the Football World Cup, he said that not everyone can win. Those who have lost should not be disappointed and move forward with better preparations. At the same time, he called for raising their voice against corruption at every level of society. Brother Ujjwal Placid Perera (CSC) thanked the Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission and Kaliganj Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee and said that it is possible to build a corruption-free Bangladesh with the collective commitment of everyone. He expressed hope that today's young generation will lead that change in the future. In his speech as the president, Nayebur Rahman Masud said that the fight against corruption is not only the responsibility of law enforcement agencies; it is the moral duty of every citizen. Therefore, students must be developed as honest, skilled and responsible citizens. Among the four educational institutions that participated in the competition, Baligaon High School and Muslin Cotton Mill High School excelled in the group stage. In the debate held on the topic "Corruption is the main obstacle to development", the students analyzed the social, economic and administrative impact of corruption and highlighted the importance of education, morality, rule of law and civic awareness. The organizers said that such programs will continue in the future to strengthen the moral education and social responsibility of students.image
