Demand for elections through PR method: Jamaat protests and rally in Nawabganj

Dohar-Nawabganj (Dhaka) Correspondent: People will not accept elections without PR. No elections will be held on Bengal soil without the implementation and reform of the July Charter. The government has failed to run the country. They have not been able to manage law and order. Nawabganj Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami has held a protest procession and rally with these demands. Today, Friday at 8:30 am, the procession circled from in front of Bagmara School to Nawabganj Gol Chattar. Later, they held a rally at Nawabganj Gol Chattar and raised various demands. Nawabganj Upazila Jamaat Ameer Md. Ibrahim Khalil presided over the meeting and Secretary General Maulana Mohammad Ali moderated the meeting. Barrister Nazrul Islam, former central general secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir, who is the candidate for parliament from Dhaka-1 constituency (Dohar-Nawabganj), was the chief guest. Jamaat leaders and activists from 14 unions from Bagmara gathered and took part in the procession with banners, festoons and beard symbols. At the Nawabganj roundabout rally, Nazrul Islam said, there will be no election in the country without the PR system. Without this process to prevent the influence of black money and corruption, the hopes of the people will not be fulfilled. A party is desperate to come to power. They want to walk the path of the fallen fascist Awami League. They are dreaming of becoming people's representatives by voting at night. The people will never let them fulfill that hope. The Jamaat leader said, the current government came to power by trampling the blood of the student population. They could not fix the law and order in the country. In this case, they have shown failure. It is not possible to hold fair elections under this government without reforms. He called for voting in beards to make peace and development sustainable for the people of Nawabganj, Doha. Barrister Nazrul said, you will not vote for any extortionists and occupiers. If Jamaat has occupied someone's house, shops and institutions, present a proof. He will be tried in public. Present at the time were Dhaka District Assistant Secretary General ABM Kamal Hossain, Doha Upazila President Dr. Shahiduzzaman, Secretary Maulana Nur Alam Jhilu, Hafez Abdul Wahab Dohari and others.
