Bangladeshi Barrister Monwar Hossain Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at International Conference in Oxford

Barrister Monwar Hossain, a distinguished British-Bangladeshi lawyer, has been honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in the fields of law and human rights at the 15th World Leaders Summit, an international conference held at Keble College, University of Oxford. The award was formally presented to him at the recently concluded conference and award ceremony.

The international conference and award programme were attended by diplomats, members of parliament, Oxford alumni, professionals, and representatives of charitable organisations from more than 30 countries around the world. The honour was presented to Barrister Monwar Hossain by Mr Virendra Sharma, a former British MP who served for 18 years, and Ms Ruby Grenjer, a well-known Oxford-educated personality and a prominent member of the StudyTube community. He was awarded a commemorative crest, medal, and certificate.

At the event, several renowned and successful professionals from different countries were recognised across various categories for their outstanding contributions to humanity.

Held under the theme “Empowering Visionaries, Transforming Tomorrow,” the 15th World Leaders Summit featured in-depth discussions on a wide range of significant issues, including liberation through creativity; how arts and culture shape identity, freedom, and the future of society; building culture and the future through heritage and humanity; and transforming education systems through empathy and inclusion.

Among those who received awards at the conference for their professional excellence and humanitarian contributions were Peter Justen (USA), Daljit Bakshi (Australia), Professor Adina Tulbure (UK), Dr Allen LaRosa (USA), Carla Ruggiero (Italy), Professor Dr Billy Tang Chi Sen (Malaysia), Meghalatha Nagaraj (India), Prabath Ranawana (United Arab Emirates), Alessio Filippelli (Italy), and Golam Kibria (Singapore), along with others.

It is noteworthy that Barrister Monwar Hossain is a highly respected practising barrister in England who has long been providing legal assistance to a large number of immigrant individuals and families living in the United Kingdom. Alongside his legal career, he has been actively engaged in human rights work since 1994. He has also played a significant role for many years in the development of Chattogram, Bangladesh’s commercial capital.

His contributions have received international recognition. Business America Magazine has recently listed him among the top 100 influential expatriates and Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs). Previously, he has received several prestigious honours, including recognition by Who’s Who Bangladesh and the Professional Service Excellence Award in Dubai, among others.

Barrister Monwar Hossain specialises in UK civil, immigration, human rights, judicial review, appeal, and family law, and has conducted countless cases at various levels of the judiciary, including the higher courts. He is particularly renowned for his extensive success in UK immigration, human rights, asylum, and citizenship law. Through his legal assistance, thousands of expatriates have been able to settle permanently in the United Kingdom, many of whom continue to contribute significantly to Bangladesh’s economy by sending remittances back home.
